Donation opportunities to support our work

Children’s Trust is the only statewide resource that supports those working every day on the front lines of child abuse prevention.

We connect local organizations and families to the resources they need. Children’s Trust-supported programs are evidence-based so we know what works to build stronger families and more resilient communities across our state. We have made tremendous strides in prevention, but there is still much to do.

South Carolina currently ranks 41 in the nation in overall child well-being. There were 18,848 children who confirmed as abused or neglected in 2015. Children’s Trust is working hard to change this. Our kids deserve better.

Consider Your Employer Matching Gift Program

Matching gifts by your employer can double - or even triple - your personal contribution to Children’s Trust of South Carolina. Please explore your employer’s gift matching policy as a way to maximize your financial support of our important work.

If you work for an employer that matches employee philanthropic donations, you will likely need to request a matching gift form from your Human Resources Department, complete it and return it to Adrienne Bellinger at abellinger@scchildren.org. We can usually take it from there!

Family helping their son with his homework

Children’s Trust is excited to offer individual and corporate Annual Giving Societies (AGS). Donating to an AGS demonstrates a strong commitment to keeping South Carolina’s kids safe while offering a variety of opportunities to strengthen and deepen our donors’ relationships with Children’s Trust. Individual and corporate AGS donors are invited to join in our prevention education and awareness activities, remain connected throughout the year to our mission and truly experience their gifts at work. Meaningful AGS benefits include annual gala and silent auction tickets, Pinwheels for Prevention and Children’s Trust branded items, recognition and visibility, exclusive invitations and more depending on your level of support.

Recycle Empty Ink and Toner Cartridges Through US Recycling

Toner Recycling

Children’s Trust is a proud partner with US Recycling’s “Ink and Toner Cartridge Recycling Program.”

This program is an easy way to recycle empty cartridges and support Children’s Trust at the same time. US Recycling, a division of Columbia-based US Laser, Inc., developed this program as a great way for nonprofit organizations to receive cash in return for their corporate partners donating empty ink and toner cartridges.

Since 2000, US Recycling has collected, recycled and paid cash for more than a million empty ink and toner cartridges. Sign up your business or your employer today to assist Children’s Trust.

US Recycling accepts many brands of ink and toner cartridges, including HP, Lexmark, Brother, Epson, Canon, and Dell, from original equipment manufacturers. The company does not take copier toner bottles. Please contact US Recycling at 888-875-1737 to ask any questions about its recycling services.

Gift of Appreciated Stock

By giving appreciated stock directly to Children’s Trust of South Carolina, you may avoid hefty capital gains taxes and also receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift. Gifts of appreciated stock generally offer a greater tax benefit than cash. It is important to check with your attorney or financial advisor in any gift planning to make sure that you are choosing the best way to achieve your personal and charitable goals. To make a gift of stock, please have your broker or trust officer contact Adrienne Bellinger at abellinger@scchildren.org or 803-744-4043.

Include Children’s Trust in Your Will

By including Children’s Trust of South Carolina in your will, you ensure that your support of our mission continues in perpetuity. A bequest in a will or other estate plan can be made for a specific dollar amount, a percentage or the remainder of an estate. For more information about charitable remainder trusts, bequests, retirement plans or estate planning, please contact Adrienne Bellinger at abellinger@scchildren.org or 803-744-4043.

Other Methods of Planned Giving

Following are other ways in which your planned gifts to Children’s Trust can support our future work to build stronger families and more resilient communities across South Carolina.

  • Designate Children’s Trust of South Carolina as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or pension plan.
  • Establish a flexible living trust or a charitable remainder trust that provides assets to Children’s Trust of South Carolina while continuing to provide you the full use and benefit of those assets during your lifetime.

Hold Your Own Fundraiser

Hold your own fundraiser

Whether you host a party, hold a bike race or put on a car wash, proceeds donated to Children’s Trust from your event help keep kids safe in South Carolina. Some ideas…

  • Ask guests to bring donations in lieu of gifts to your next birthday party.
  • Set up a "Cool Off for Kids" lemonade stand in your neighborhood.
  • Host a golf tournament or walk/run to benefit Children’s Trust. Complete our Third-Party Fundraising form.
  • Challenge your friends to a chili cook-off or see who has the best BBQ on the block and donate all registration fees to help children and families in South Carolina.
  • Set up a collection jar at your office.

The possibilities are endless, and no gift is too big or too small! Every single donation gets us one step closer to Children’s Trust’s target — to reduce child abuse by 50 percent by 2023.
