“Bett lives out her commitment to voluntarism and developing the potential of women through her selfless leadership and commitment,” said Anna Edwards, Junior League of Columbia president. “She is being recognized this year for continuing to use her gifts to impact the lives of women within the Midlands and across North America.”

Williams has worked for 10 years with Children’s Trust, whose mission is preventing child abuse and neglect and strengthening families across South Carolina. She is serving as the current president of the Association of Junior Leagues International.

“I am very honored by this award. The Junior League is where I developed my love for nonprofit work and the critical role that nonprofits play in building communities,” Williams said. “The Junior League gives women unique opportunities to better understand their communities and grow into skilled civic leaders. It has certainly done that for me, and I am honored to be in a place where I can do that for others.”

Edwards noted that Williams has mentored many JLC leaders over the years and led by example as a volunteer, wife, mom and daughter. She added that Williams has continued to be a community champion in these difficult times.

“We have all experienced life differently this year due to COVID, but as Bett has demonstrated, it doesn’t mean we can’t continue blazing trails, tackling big issues and making a difference wherever we are,” Edwards said.
