The U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate passed identical bills to respond to the coronavirus outbreak. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act was signed into law by President Trump March 18. On the South Carolina front, the S.C. House and Senate passed a bill to send $45 million to the Department of Health and Environmental Control for COVID-19 response, which Gov. McMaster signed into law March 19. McMaster also issued executive orders that addressed state employees, colleges, hospitals and restaurants.
