caregiver and child huggingThe Family Resource Center Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening Virtual Training will take place on Tuesday, February 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, February 22 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Developed by the National Family Support Network (NFSN), the training is open to members and non-members of the South Carolina Family Resource Center Network at no cost.

Topics include: 

  • History of the Family Support Field 
  • Principles of Family Support Practice 
  • Strengthening Families Approach and its 5 Protective Factors 
  • Family Centeredness – How can we develop and implement a program that is centered on the needs of families?
  • Family Strengthening – How can we help families to build upon their strengths for achieving success?
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – How can staff and families value, respect, and embrace families’ diversity, and advance equity and inclusion?
  • Community Strengthening – How can programs and families build strong communities?
  • Evaluation – How do we know how well our programs are serving families? 

The training is designed for all management and direct service staff, as well as for funders. Teams of executive directors, managers, coordinators and direct service staff are highly encouraged to participate together because each has a key role to play in implementing the Standards effectively.

Each participant who successfully completes the training receives a certificate from the NFSN that is valid for two years.
