Lee Porter, Children’s Trust chief program officer, recently wrote a piece for the Children’s Bureau Express entitled “Extraordinary Work Requires Extraordinary Evidence.”
It tells the story of how and why Children’s Trust relies upon evidence-based programs to prevent child abuse and neglect while strengthening families in South Carolina.
Children’s Bureau Express (CBX) covers news, issues, and trends of interest to professionals and policymakers in the interrelated fields of child abuse and neglect, child welfare, and adoption. It is an outlet for the Children’s Bureau, an office of the Administration for Children and Families.
In the piece, Porter wrote, “Using evidence-based programs (EBPs) and building evidence to support family strengthening isn’t only for well-known or sophisticated organizations. This is a story of how a small organization utilized existing data resources and intentionally built its internal evaluation capacity so that it could demonstrate program impact and contribute meaningful evidence to the child welfare field.”
