With support from The Duke Endowment, Children’s Trust has grown the number of funded partners that are delivering the Positive Parenting Program, also known as Triple P.
Children’s Trust and The Duke Endowment have worked to scale Triple P for the last six years with the shared goal of preventing child abuse and neglect and improving family well-being. Children’s Trust also supports the Triple P South Carolina Network by providing training, professional development and networking opportunities for practitioners across the state.
Triple P is an effective, evidence-based prevention program with more than 35 years of ongoing research. It provides parents, grandparents and caregivers with the skills to manage parenting challenges while building healthy family relationships and promoting positive child development.
Children’s Trust now funds 16 partners across South Carolina. With an established Triple P footprint in Greenville, Spartanburg and Georgetown Counties, these partnerships expand Triple P implementation to 21 counties:
- Child Abuse Prevention Association (also known as CAPA), Beaufort
- Charleston County First Steps, Charleston
- The CARE House of the Pee Dee, Florence
- Edgefield School District, Edgefield,
- United Way of Horry County, Horry
Since the program began in 2018, 5,595 caregivers have participated in Triple P services, impacting 9,530 children.
Children’s Trust’s Triple P team also provides support and resources to its partners through coaching and guiding the network. According to Kayce Singletary, chief impact officer, this work contributes to the program’s overall proven success.
“We know Triple P works,” said Singletary. “Current evaluation numbers show that 96% of surveyed participants reported improved parenting skills.”
Singletary said participants also reported statistically significant increases in the following protective factors: knowledge of parenting skills, family functioning and resiliency, nurturing and attachment, and social and emotional support.
