Children’s Trust, in partnership with the University of South Carolina, is conducting a research study that will interview two separate groups to understand community perspectives on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and building resilience among children.
If you are willing to share your story in one of these two studies, we would like to hear from you.
- In the first study, we will interview individuals 18 or older who faced trauma while growing up in South Carolina and succeeded despite these hardships. These in-person interviews will explore what life was like growing up, feelings about childhood, the advantages and disadvantages that were experienced, how life decisions were made, and where the individuals are in adulthood.
- In the second study, we are recruiting child-serving professionals with at least five years of experience working directly with children and families in South Carolina. If you are currently in research and/or academia, you are not eligible for this study. These individuals will be interviewed about their knowledge of ACEs and resilience, how they have seen children beat the odds of traumatic experiences, and their insight on policies and programs that are most beneficial to children’s well-being.
Participants can choose the time and place for the interview, which is expected to take approximately an hour. They will be provided a $25 gift card for their time.
