Children’s Trust of South Carolina is proud to welcome Compass Collegiate Academy and Seahaven for Youth as the newest delivery sites for the Strengthening Families Program (SFP). These new partnerships extend our reach into two of South Carolina’s most vibrant and rapidly growing communities, ensuring more families have access to this proven, life-changing program.
“At Children’s Trust of South Carolina, we believe that strong families are the foundation of thriving communities, and that belief drives every partnership we form,” said Eric Bellamy, chief partner engagement officer. “We are excited that these two exceptional organizations have joined our statewide network to deliver proven prevention programs.”
Children’s Trust contracts with 22 local organizations to deliver SFP, reaching families in 32 of the state’s 46 counties. The Duke Endowment, the S.C. Department of Public Health and the S.C. Department of Social Services provide funding to implement SFP across the state.
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a nationally recognized, evidence-based family skills training program designed to reduce risk factors associated with substance use, behavioral problems, and family conflict while building the protective factors that help families thrive.
“Every SFP delivery site goes through a rigorous application and review process, and we look for organizations with a clear mission, deep community roots, strong operational capacity and an unwavering commitment to families. These two organizations met those standards,” added Bellamy.
Compass Collegiate Academy (CCA) is a tuition-free public charter school in North Charleston, serving students in kindergarten through 5th grade with plans to expand to a full K–8 school. “Their mission-driven commitment to scholar success goes well beyond the classroom, and their decision to bring SFP to their school community reflects exactly the kind of whole-family thinking we look for in a partner,” said Nicole Foulks, Strengthening Families Program manager.
Seahaven for Youth is a well-established organization in the Horry County community, with a history of delivering evidence-based programming and a longstanding commitment to the families it serves. “Seahaven has the facility, resource and staff capacity in place to ensure a high-quality SFP experience, including the capacity to deliver SFP in both English and Spanish,” added Foulks. “We were inspired by their excitement and determination to provide SFP for their families.”
Each new SFP partner site represents more families reached, more relationships strengthened, and more children growing up in homes equipped with the tools they need to thrive. We look forward to supporting them and to celebrating the families they will serve.
