The citizens of South Carolina have placed a trust in us to be a voice for the children of our state, and we take that job very seriously.
The well-being of all our children is our focus, and we are especially concerned for Black children.
Because of structural and systemic racism, too many children suffer from a scarcity of resources and opportunity based on their skin color, zip code, family status and other factors beyond their control. Our children deserve better.
These are complex issues and solving them will require an unwavering commitment to change. We do not have all the answers, but Children’s Trust board and staff leadership are expanding our work in this space and redoubling our efforts.
We are seeking to understand and learn from difficult and honest conversations about racism/anti-blackness, race equity, and inclusion. This work will lead us to actions that will ensure all families have what they need to succeed, and all children will have opportunities to thrive.
We proudly stand with all who share this commitment to social justice for the children of South Carolina.
