The Building Prevention video series examines the key elements behind our programmatic work to prevent child abuse and neglect in South Carolina. Each video addresses critical components and strategies that are beneficial in reducing child maltreatment and strengthening prevention efforts in our communities. In this video, Aditi Srivastav Bussells, Ph.D, Children’s Trust director of research, discusses Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) – traumatic events that occur in a child’s life prior to the age of 18 that can harm brain development and result in long-term negative health and social outcomes – and how our organization is working to prevent them.
The other five videos in the series are Partnerships & Collaboration (April 21), The Parent Voice (April 28), Positive Parenting in the Community (May 12), Strengthening Families in the Community (May 19), and Protective Factors (May 26).
