As we join communities across the country in celebrating National Home Visiting Week, Children’s Trust is proud to lift our voice in strong support of the home visiting programs that serve families across South Carolina — and to honor the professionals who make this critical work possible every day. We stand in partnership with all the member organizations of the S.C. Home Visiting Consortium.
As the statewide organization working to prevent child abuse and neglect, we are committed to strengthening families and investing in the healthy development of young children. We know firsthand the power of home visiting. It’s not just a program — it’s a relationship-based approach that builds trust, supports parents, and lays the foundation for long-term success for children and their families.
The research is clear: Home visiting works. Families who participate in evidence-based home visiting programs are more likely to have healthy births, reach developmental milestones, and enter school ready to learn. These programs help prevent child abuse and neglect, improve maternal health, and foster economic stability—outcomes that benefit not just individual families but whole communities.
At Children’s Trust, we fund and support a network of home visiting providers who perform extraordinary work throughout our state. We witness the difference they make every day—in rural towns and urban neighborhoods alike—by offering encouragement, education, and resources during some of life’s most challenging and formative moments.
To every home visitor, supervisor, program leader, and advocate: We thank you. Your work changes lives and builds brighter futures for South Carolina’s children.
As we continue to advocate for accessible, quality home visiting services for every family who wants and needs them, let this letter remind you of the immense value you bring to our state and of the deep appreciation we hold for everything you do.
In partnership together for families,
Sue Williams, Children’s Trust CEO
