Earlier this month, Children’s Trust announced its policy priorities for 2024 at a press conference hosted at the State House. The top priorities include lowering maternal and infant mortality and increasing access to child care.
State leaders joined to support the policy priorities and identified strategies to prioritize the well-being of children and their families.
Speaking at the event were Sen. Katrina Shealy, member of the Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children; Sue Williams, Children’s Trust CEO; Beverly Hamilton, Children’s Trust board chair; Dr. Ramkumar Jayagopalan, board-certified pediatrician and Children’s Trust board member; Dr. Elizabeth Mack, South Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics president and pediatric critical care medicine doctor, and others.
Our 2024 legislative agenda includes expanding voluntary home visiting programs, increasing access to child care, expanding free breakfast and lunch programs in public schools, and prioritizing crisis stabilization units for children. Read more.
