Last week the Committee on Children held their second hearing discussing school-based mental health services. Speakers included representatives from the South Carolina Alliance of Health Plans, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, and Rock Hill, Kershaw and Greenville school districts.
The school district representatives discussed how they provide school-based mental health services to their students, as well as how they handle contracts with providers. Although no action was taken, the committee seems to have an interest in ensuring that mental health services are offered and available across school districts in South Carolina.
