Last week, as legislators returned to the State House to meet in person, the South Carolina Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children convened to elect a new chairperson, Rep. Beth Bernstein (D-Richland), and a new vice chair, Sen. Brad Hutto (D-Orangeburg). The group also reviewed this year’s committee report and pending legislation.
Also included in the Policy Post this week are bills to watch and meetings to watch. The House Education and Public Works Early Childhood Subcommittee will hold a virtual hearing Feb. 2 that features testimony on early childhood issues from Children’s Trust CEO Sue Williams and Rep. Neal Collins (R-Pickens), a member of the Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children.
