Prevent Child Abuse America recently hosted its national conference in Portland, Oregon. The conference brought together leaders, advocates, researchers and frontline professionals to advance prevention strategies, share cutting-edge research and foster collaboration for systemic change. It focused on driving a movement for primary prevention, equipping attendees with innovative tools and knowledge to strengthen support systems for children and families and create a world where child maltreatment is nonexistent.
Chief Communications Officer Bett Williams delivered a session on the successful development of SC Parents, the state’s primary prevention website that connects parents with knowledge, support and services to navigate their parenting journey.
Williams shared, “We are very proud of this parent-focused resource and how it led us to build a primary prevention messaging brand. It was a privilege to share this work with other partners nationwide.” South Carolina is one of the few states to have a resource solely dedicated to helping parents navigate their parenting journey. SC Parents provides information, advice from other parents, a directory of free and reduced-cost services across the state, and online programs like Triple P Online—all aimed at reducing barriers to seeking help and empowering caregivers.
SC Parents was developed in partnership with Period Three, a creative, strategy and production studio for website development in Columbia, SC.
Children’s Trust leads primary prevention work in South Carolina, including home visiting and other proven prevention programs, family resource centers, training and prevention messaging. Children’s Trust is the Prevent Child Abuse America affiliate for South Carolina.
