Oprah Winfrey’s report on childhood trauma for a March 11 segment on “60 Minutes” emphasized how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can have a long-term negative impact on adult health and social outcomes. Winfrey, who called the information “life-changing,” discussed this important topic with Dr. Bruce Perry, a Prevent Child Abuse America board member, as well as those who experienced childhood trauma.
Children’s Trust was one of many child-serving organizations across the country that engaged in a social media conversation – using the hashtag #InvestUpstream – during the report to highlight why communities must work to address and prevent ACEs.
