Senate: On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Senate Finance Health & Human Services Subcommittee met and heard budget presentations including those from the Department of Social Services and the Department of Children’s Advocacy.
On Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary committee passed out S.995 and S.996, which deal with morphed images of minors and AI images of child sexual exploitation. Learn more about these bills. Additionally, the committee passed out other bills related to child welfare including S.839 (homicide by child abuse), S.877 (luring), and S.947 (kidnapping).
This week the Senate gave second and third reading to S.862, which deals with requirements for caregivers in licensed or approved child care facilities. The Senate also gave second and third reading to S. 915 which deals with the creation of the Office of Health and Policy.
House: The House was on furlough this week but the full Ways and Means committee met and passed out their proposed FY 2025 budget. Documents related to that proposal are available.
