Midlands Gives

The Midlands did indeed prove to be a giving community May 4, as the 11-county region came together to raise more than $3.3 million for 479 organizations during the eighth annual Midlands Gives event. Children’s Trust accounted for $9,206 of that total from 39 unique donors.

Children’s Trust noted its appreciation for the donors who chose to support South Carolina’s children and families, as the organization and its many local grantees throughout South Carolina continue to implement programs that prevent child abuse and neglect.

“Midlands Gives is such an exciting day to shine a spotlight on the numerous nonprofits in our community,” said Caitlyn McAnulty, Children’s Trust donor relations coordinator. “We were thrilled by the support that we received from both new and familiar donors to help boost our fundraising during a tough year that saw many families experience such stressful times. The turnout on Tuesday underscores the importance of supporting organizations like Children’s Trust and our evidence-based programs in local communities across the state that are helping prevent child abuse while working to build strong families.”

Midlands Gives brings the region together as one community by raising money and awareness for local nonprofits in Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter counties. In addition to being a year-round resource for donors across the Midlands, the initiative amplifies donations during an 18-hour online giving challenge the first Tuesday in May each year.

The Central Carolina Community Foundation, which stages the annual event, welcomed the generosity that’s going to have a large impact on countless lives and help these nonprofits across the Midlands overcome the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization acknowledged the thousands of donors, partners, sponsors, and nonprofits that teamed up to work tirelessly to support services and communities in the area.
