ACE Summit 2016 breakout session

Event information

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events that may occur in a child’s life prior to the age of 18. The ACE Study confirms, with scientific evidence, that adversity during development increases the risk of physical, mental and behavioral problems later in life. The ACE Study and other research using the Study’s framework have taught us that ACEs are the leading cause of health and social problems in our nation – the most powerful determinant of the public’s health. By better understanding ACEs, what they are and how they can manifest themselves years later, communities can work to prevent future abuse and improve outcomes for South Carolina’s children and families.

Registration
