Triple P in South Carolina

Offers practical strategies for parents to manage their children’s behavior.

With a generous grant from The Duke Endowment, Children’s Trust is working to activate the Positive Parenting Program, known as Triple P, in Georgetown, Greenville and Spartanburg counties. This work is building a model prevention system that can be replicated across South Carolina to change the state’s approach to the prevention of child maltreatment.

This innovative work will give South Carolina models for county-wide, coordinated systems of prevention that gives a population-level approach to parenting and preventing abuse and neglect.

How it works

With more than 35 years of ongoing research, Triple P is an effective, evidence-based parenting program. It offers simple, practical strategies to help parents build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and promote positive child development. Triple P has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and in many kinds of family structures.

Managed through a local coordinating agency, services are provided to families by a variety of community-based service organizations including pediatric practices, nonprofits, libraries, schools and churches.
